About Metric Oak
A data engineering firm built the way we wanted to hire one
Small senior teams, fixed scope, measured outcomes.
Our story
Enterprises are funding AI programs faster than their data platforms can support them. The models are rarely the problem. The data underneath — scattered, ungoverned, expensive to run — is.
Metric Oak was founded by Nishant Walchale after seeing the same pattern on data platform programs again and again: large teams, long timelines, and platforms the client could not run once the consultants left.
We built Metric Oak to do the opposite: a few senior engineers, a fixed scope, a measured result in weeks, and a platform your own team can operate.
How we're different
Compared with large consultancies
| Large consultancy | Metric Oak | |
|---|---|---|
| Who does the work | Pyramid teams; senior people sell, junior people deliver | Senior engineers only, from first call to handover |
| Scope and price | Time and materials, change requests | Fixed scope and fixed fee per phase |
| Time to first result | Months of discovery | A production result in weeks |
| Platform depth | Every platform, every industry | Databricks, Snowflake and Fabric, in three industries |
| What you keep | Accelerators licensed back to you | All code and infrastructure in your accounts |
Values
How we work
Numbers over adjectives
We report outcomes as measurements against a baseline, agreed before the work starts.
Senior by default
The engineer on the first call is the engineer who does the work.
Leave it runnable
Every engagement ends with your team able to operate and change what we built.
Say what we would do
Honest recommendations, including when the answer is to do less.
