Frequently asked questions

How long does a data platform migration take?

It depends on the number of objects, jobs and consumers, not on data volume. A first business domain typically reaches production a few weeks after the inventory; a full estate moves in parallel waves over several months, each with a dated decommission milestone.

Can legacy code be converted automatically?

Much of it. Conversion tools translate most SQL, stored procedures and standard ETL steps. Procedural code, scripted transformations and platform-specific behaviour still need rewriting and testing, and every converted table should be reconciled against the old system before cutover.

Which target platform should we choose?

Databricks suits engineering-heavy, data science and AI workloads; Snowflake suits SQL-first analytics and data sharing; Microsoft Fabric suits organizations standardized on Microsoft and Power BI. Many estates combine them. Try our platform chooser, or let a Data Platform Assessment compare them on your workloads and costs.
