How mature is your data platform?

Rate 12 statements across six areas. You get a score, a breakdown by area and where to start. Your answers stay in your browser.

1 / 6

Platform & architecture

Analytics, reporting and data science run on one shared cloud platform rather than separate silos.
Infrastructure, pipelines and permissions are defined as code and deployed through CI/CD.

2 / 6

Legacy footprint

No business-critical reporting still depends on an on-premises warehouse or end-of-life tooling.
You know which legacy jobs, tables and reports are still used, and by whom.

3 / 6

Data quality & governance

Critical datasets have named owners, documented definitions and automated quality tests.
You can show an auditor who accessed sensitive data and trace any figure back to its source.

4 / 6

Cost control

Platform spend is broken down by team, workload or product, and someone reviews it monthly.
Compute sizing, auto-suspend and storage retention are tuned rather than left at defaults.

5 / 6

AI readiness

Documents and tables that AI use cases need are catalogued, permissioned and retrievable.
At least one AI or machine-learning use case runs in production with monitoring.

6 / 6

Operations & reliability

Pipeline failures alert an owner, and business users rarely find data problems first.
Data freshness and availability have agreed service levels that you measure.

Frequently asked questions

How is the score calculated?

Each statement scores 0 to 3. Each area is the share of its maximum, and the overall score is the average across the six areas. The lowest-scoring area is where we suggest starting.

Do you store my answers?

No. The scorecard runs in your browser and your answers are not sent to Metric Oak or anyone else.

How accurate is a self-assessment?

It is a quick, directional view. A Data Platform Assessment checks the same areas against your actual architecture, pipelines and bills, and ends with a priced roadmap.
